|THE WORLD OF VOLCOM STONE | OCTOBER 5TH | PARIS
Last Saturday 5th of October, Volcom Clothing hosted an afternoon celebrating the brand and its unique values in Paris.
"The World Of Volcom Stone" showcased the international première of Veeco’s latest film "True To This" , a skateboarding demo and a concert of the band Black Bananas.
All this was for free as per usual.
The public could interact at some DIY stations with Volcom employees, to have some tee shirts screenprinted, some hats customized, some buttons stamped…get creative with the copy machine, and of course walk away with a million more goodies.
Some skate obstacles were especially made for the event and were also open to skate for everyone and soon a couple of good tricks got landed by local Frenchmen such as Robin Bolian or Jerôme Prefot.
At around 6 pm things went crazy with the Pros taking over the course. The Volcom Skate Team includes some of the best skateboarders on the planet…and with such heavy hitters the demo went nuts.
The skateboard team in Paris consisted of back to back Skaters Of The Year (voted by Thrasher Magazine) David Gonzalez and Grant Taylor, legend Rune Glifberg, superhuman Collin “Spider” Provost, Kingpin’s European favorite Eniz Fazilov, Belgian prodigy Axel Cruysberghs, all terrain shredders Alain Goikoetxea and Ben Raemers, and local team rider Vincent Coupeau, Dennis Busenitz was also present but injured.
The demo started full force with the two SOTY David Gonzalez and GT flying around; unfortunately Collin got hurt during the first minutes of the demo while landing a massive fs ollie, slaying the quarter pipe at the same time, adding some gnarlitude to the thing.
The crowd went wild with all the tricks landed, and then Axel and Eniz together closed the session on the stone obstacle respectively with a fs flip revert and a huge fs 360.
It was then time for the World première showing of "True To This" a sequel to the iconic Volcom film from 1991 "Alive We Ride" - a celebration of America’s First Boarding Company.
Ryan Immegart, Volcom VP of Marketing, introduced the movie on stage and then everyone enjoyed some raw skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding with another killer soundtrack. We won’t reveal any more spoilers here, as the film will drop publicly in March 2014.
Snowboard team riders Arthur Longo, Pat Moore and Elena Hight were also there having a good time, Spanish slasher Gony Zubizarreta also made the trip together with our friends and employees from Volcom from all around the world to celebrate.
The afternoon ended with the Black Bananas, the unclassifiable US band combining genres from psychedelia to metal, spearheaded by creative genius Jennifer Herrema.
So many things happened so fast…soon everyone was straight out into the nightlife, because coincidently the same night, the Parisian city event "Nuit Blanche" was on in all streets and plazas. This means everything was open late and everyone was wearing white. And partying.
That was a night to remember!

When Volcom was founded in 1991, it was the first company to combine surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding under one brand. This way of life influenced the “Youth Against Establishment” style and attitude that defined a generation. The cultural phenomenon was best captured when Volcom released “Alive We Ride” in 1993: a film documenting the raw excitement and spontaneous creativity inherent to the lifestyle. Twenty years later, with the release of “True To This”, Volcom again captures the energy and artistry of board-riding in its purest forms. Shot on-location around the world and showcasing iconic athletes, “True To This” is a tribute to the movement that inspired a generation and the people and places that embody the spirit today.

Founded on a snowboarding trip in the winter of 1991 by Richard Woolcott and
Tucker Hall, the Volcom idea would incorporate a major philosophy of the times:
«Youth Against Establishment». Volcom is a modern lifestyle brand that embodies
the creative spirit of youth culture. The company was founded on liberation,
innovation and experimentation while remaining dedicated to the breakdown of
established traditions. Volcom’s avant-garde approach to clothing and branding
has set it apart in the action sports industry and beyond.
The goal of Volcom is to provide clothing to people who share our passion for art,
music, film, skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding. We are focused on supporting
athletes, artists and musicians – providing a means for creative individuals to come
together and collectively express themselves. This collaborative effort results in
everything from the ever-growing «Let the Kids Ride Free» contest series to the
high-profile « Volcom Pipeline Pro» and «Volcom Fiji Pro» surf competitions.
Volcom’s belief that «the only constant is change» defines our willingness to embrace
the complexity and diversity that exists in the world and our ability to apply it to our
overall creative output. It also speaks of our open-minded approach to business
and life in general. This flexible outlook enables Volcom to take on many meanings
and stay relevant on many levels.
Our products (which include streetwear, boardies, denim, swimwear, footwear,
accessories and outerwear) incorporate a distinctive mixture of fashion and function
combined with quality, comfort and athletic performance. The environmentally
conscious V.Co-Logical Series, the rider-collaborative V.Co-Operative Series and
the Featured Artist Series are just a few of Volcom’s premiere product collections.
With designs for men, women and youth, we create clothing that not only exemplifies
our lifestyle, but enhances the ability to live it.
