2012 WILD IN THE PARKS STOP #6, GLASGOW, DE 01/08/2012
The 6th stop of the Wild in the Parks tour shook, rattled, and rolled through the
Glasgow Skate Park on Saturday, July 28, 2012!
This was the first EVER event at the Glasgow park and it was a great way to break it
in! The skate park consists of a great plaza-esque street section and two proper
bowls. It was a long road getting the skate park built but it was well worth all the
work that went into making it a reality. The east coast skateboard community came
out in full force with hundreds in attendance for the big show. New Castle County’s
Head of Special Services Jon Husband also came out to take in the glory. He played
an integral part in getting this park approved and it was great to have his presence
at the event. The east coast needs more of these parks so it’s great to see the city
officials backing up the skateboard scene!
The 14 and Under Division got the party started. They fearlessly charged the 3 WITP
zones with fierce determination and composure. A solid performance by all the
young guns who came out but Justin Adeniran was awarded top honors. A nollie
varial heel flip, nose manual into the steep back, and nollie big flip up the euro
were part of his recipe for success. Coming in 2nd was Zach Petit and taking home
bronze was Cole Michael. We’ll look forward to what this group has in store for the
future!

The Lil’ Monkey division (10 and Under) was also shaking things up with this group.
Small in stature but big in stoke, these groms were an inspiration to all. Lance
Wunder was awarded as the standout Lil’ Monkey of the event but all of the 10 and
Unders walked with gear.

Next up was the 15 and Over Division’s time to shine. They dazzled the crowd with
a laser flip down the 7, Barley grinds down the rail, and a tail slide to 270 out in
zone 3. Once all the scores were tallied, Dylan Jeffers walked away with first, Tyler
Thomas in second, and Evan Breden taking home 3rd.

The Open Division had the task of closing out the day. They took to it with a furry
and intensity right out of the gates. Dropping hammers left and right, the crowd’s
cheers could barely keep up with all the destruction. Man on a mission Liam
McCabe was wowing the crowd throughout the day with a laser flip over the rail,
varial heel to board slide, and double tre into the bank, just to mention a few. His
performance earned him the gold metal position and he walked with $250 and pile
of product. The ender for the contest had to have been Chris Anderson’s smith
down the 7-stair rail to kick flip out! It took some serious work but in the final
seconds of the contest it all came together and the crowd went nuts! Chris earned
himself the 2nd place title. Billy Cusa snatched up 3rd with a mind numbing double
hard flip. The entire bunch put on a show that won’t soon be forgotten.
